An Israeli startup that raised more than $127 million to build data tools for businesses is shutting down after nearly nine years, and the customers who built their sales pipelines on its products now have a date by which they need to be gone: December 2.
Explorium is ceasing operations, its founders announced in a farewell post on the company’s website. A notice on the site says its AgentSource platform will be discontinued on December 2 and that unused credits will be refunded to customers’ original payment method.
The company, founded in 2017 by Omer Har, Or Tamir and Maor Shlomo, built a data enrichment platform that opened up a universe of outside data sources and signals, helping data professionals make better predictions and smarter decisions. Shlomo later left to found Base44, which was acquired by Wix.
The startup raised early and often: a $15.5 million Series A in 2019, a $31 million round in 2020 and a $75 million round in 2021 led by Insight Partners, bringing its total above $127 million. Its backers include Zeev Ventures, Emerge, F2 Capital and 01 Advisors.
As machine learning tools became widely available, Explorium changed course. Under Har as chief executive, it pivoted early toward generative AI, betting that AI agents would emerge as a new class of business user needing broad access to quality data. It launched AgentSource in early 2025, a data platform for go-to-market agents, followed by what it described as the first B2B data enrichment product built on the Model Context Protocol. That evolved into Vibe Prospecting, an in-chat prospecting application the founders said attracted more than 350,000 registered users.

It was not enough. “Thanks to an extraordinary team, we moved rapidly in a market undergoing real turmoil and kept growing this past year,” the founders wrote. “In the end, it saddens us to say it all just wasn’t enough.”
The closure is a reminder that the AI boom has two sides: for every company riding it, others discover that switching to AI products does not by itself make a business work. For Explorium’s users – sales and marketing teams that ran their prospecting through its tools – the immediate task is practical: export what they need before December 2 and line up a replacement.
