US stock futures held steady Wednesday evening after the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted its best day since April 2025, while two earnings reports sent after-hours movers in opposite directions.
Dow futures rose about 69 points, or 0.1%, with S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures also up about 0.1% as of 6:24 p.m. ET, CNBC reported, after the Dow gained more than 1,500 points, or 3%, in the regular session as oil plunged and Democrats’ midterm sweep removed election uncertainty.
After the bell, earnings ruled. AppLovin surged almost 24% after delivering better-than-expected results and guidance that topped estimates. Qualcomm fell about 6.5% despite beating expectations, as its profit outlook disappointed.
Some on Wall Street urged caution about reading too much into one day. “I wouldn’t view [Wednesday’s equity trading] as an all-clear signal, but rather a call for some sanity around the amount of capital being poured into the AI infrastructure build-out,” said Jordan Watson, a portfolio manager at Tandem Investment Advisors.
What’s next. Weekly jobless claims land Thursday morning and the October jobs report arrives Friday. Tapestry, Kimberly-Clark and ConocoPhillips report before the bell Thursday, with Airbnb and Akamai after the close.
