Democrat Annie Andrews has won South Carolina’s U.S. Senate race, defeating Republican Sen. Graham and flipping the seat to Democratic control, NBC News projects. The Fox News Decision Desk also projects an Andrews victory.
Andrews, a pediatrician, challenged Graham as the Republican senator sought a full term. NBC published its projection Tuesday night.
The projected result is a Democratic pickup in the Senate. It is an individual state race call, not a projection about which party will control the chamber.
The result remains a media projection rather than an election certification. This report includes no vote totals, margin or claims about historic firsts.
