Democrat Deb Haaland has won New Mexico’s race for governor, defeating Republican Gregg Hull, the Fox News Decision Desk projects.
Haaland would succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, keeping the governor’s office in Democratic hands. Hull is the former mayor of Rio Rancho, Fox reported.
Haaland previously served in the U.S. House and led the Department of the Interior under President Joe Biden, according to Fox’s election-night report.
This report attributes the outcome to Fox’s projection rather than treating it as an election certification. It includes no vote totals or margin and makes no claim about historic firsts.
