Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized President Donald Trump’s announcement about ending U.S. aid to Israel, arguing in a Tuesday post on X that it reflected election-day political pressure.
Greene said the announcement would not change the midterm election results or end the war with Iran. She tied her response to public opposition to the aid, but did not cite polling data in the post. Those were her assessments of the policy and its political effects.
Earlier Tuesday, Trump told Fox & Friends that U.S. aid to Israel would be cut off at the end of the year. He described the country as thriving and said it no longer needed the assistance.
Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had raised the idea and that the two leaders had discussed it for years. The president also said Israel could continue to buy U.S. weapons.
In her post, Greene pointed to her proposal last year to remove funding for Israel. She said only six House members, including herself, supported the amendment. That vote count is Greene’s account, not an independently checked roll call in this report.
Greene’s criticism followed Trump’s morning interview, rather than a separate evening aid announcement. Trump framed the change as ending financial assistance while retaining Israel’s ability to purchase American weapons.
