Israeli shares closed lower Wednesday after Tuesday’s election, while the shekel weakened against the dollar on the Bank of Israel’s representative-rate measure.
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange’s TA-35 index closed October 28 at 4,130.36, down 1.81%. The exchange marked the market closed and identified the final index print with its closing indicator.
Broader share indices also finish lower
The TA-125 closed at 4,007.01, down 2.46%, while the TA-90 finished at 3,641.53, down 4.47%. These are the exchange’s closing figures, replacing the earlier intraday snapshot.
The closing levels show how the indices performed. They do not, by themselves, establish why investors bought or sold, and no causal link between the election and the declines is established here.
Dollar rises on the representative-rate measure
The Bank of Israel’s Hebrew homepage listed the October 28 representative dollar rate at 3.1280 shekels, with the dollar up 1.624% against the previous representative rate.
A higher dollar-shekel rate means more shekels are needed to buy a dollar. This is the central bank’s representative rate, not a live foreign-exchange trading quote, and should not be read as a synchronized market price alongside the stock-index closes.
Election results are separate from market data
