Dario and Daniela Amodei, the Jewish siblings among the founders of Anthropic, are bringing a family story into the spotlight as the company behind Claude moves toward an initial public offering. Their Jewish family background is documented in a March 2026 profile and journalist Alex Kantrowitz’s 2025 interview profile.

The company behind Claude publicly filed its Form S-1 on Monday, October 26, seeking to list Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ANT. The filing brings a new public spotlight to the brother and sister among Anthropic’s seven co-founders.

Anthropic’s scale is already substantial: in its May 28, 2026 funding announcement, the company said it raised $65 billion at a $965 billion post-money valuation. That was the value assigned in a private fundraising round in May, not a final IPO valuation or a current stock-market value.

The same announcement described a direct connection to SpaceX: Anthropic said it had signed agreements for access to GPU computing capacity in SpaceX’s Colossus 1 and Colossus 2. The link is computing infrastructure, not a claim that the companies have the same valuation or business model.

A family story within a larger founding team

The siblings grew up in San Francisco. Their mother, Elena Engel, is Jewish and worked on Bay Area library projects; their father, Riccardo Amodei, was an Italian leathersmith. Their family background is documented in journalist Alex Kantrowitz’s 2025 interview profile and a March 2026 profile.

The SEC filing identifies Dario as chief executive and a director, and Daniela as president and chair of the board. It says Anthropic was founded in 2021 by a team of researchers, with responsible development of advanced AI as its mission.

Building a company around a responsibility

Claude is delivered through Anthropic’s models, platform and applications. In its prospectus, the company describes a business focused on bringing AI into organizations’ work while investing in research on safety and reliability.

Those ambitions are not the same as guaranteed outcomes. More capable AI raises questions about reliability, accountability and the effects on workers, alongside its possible benefits. Anthropic’s founders face the practical challenge of developing and selling the technology while maintaining the safeguards they say matter.

Anthropic is a Delaware public benefit corporation. Its filing describes a Long-Term Benefit Trust with authority generally to elect and remove Class T directors, who would form a majority of its authorized board. A separate founders’ entity would hold a special share carrying 50.1% of the voting power on matters submitted to stockholders generally, including elections for directors other than Class T directors.

An IPO filing, not a completed offering

Anthropic’s October 26 announcement said the share count and price range had not been determined and the registration statement had not yet become effective. The filing does not establish a final IPO valuation or a trading date.
