Mason Wells has acquired Canworks, a U.S. digital printer that puts beverage brands’ designs directly onto aluminum cans, according to a Wednesday announcement from the seller’s financial adviser.

Mesirow said it advised Canworks on the sale. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.

For beverage businesses, the deal concerns a supplier used to produce branded packaging in shorter runs and with quick turnaround, according to the company’s description of its services. The announcement did not specify changes to customer prices or service terms.

Five U.S. facilities

Brothers Ryan and Marshall Thompson founded Canworks in 2020. The company now operates five facilities across Texas, Georgia, California, Missouri and Connecticut, serving beverage brands, co-packers, brokers and distributors.

Its services include graphic design, technical support and direct-to-can printing for products such as energy drinks, hydration beverages, seltzers and kombucha.

The founders said Mason Wells’ experience in expanding businesses would support the company’s next stage of growth. Mesirow, which was the exclusive financial adviser to Canworks, said the partnership creates an opportunity for expansion.
