Updated November 3, 2026, 9:09 p.m. EST: Added the Associated Press race call.
Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas has won New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race, defeating Republican John E. Sununu, the Associated Press reports. Read the AP race call via WTOP.
The result keeps the seat held by retiring Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in Democratic hands. The contest was a competitive and expensive race in a swing state, according to Fox.
Pappas is a four-term House member who previously served on New Hampshire’s Executive Council. Sununu spent six years in the House before winning a Senate term in 2002; he lost his 2008 reelection race to Shaheen, Fox reported.
The AP race call is not a certified election result. No vote totals are being reported here, and the outcome of this race alone does not determine which party will control the Senate.
