President Donald Trump said Sunday that Kansas officials were investigating an alleged offer of gift cards for votes in Wichita. In a Truth Social post, he said Attorney General Kris Kobach had told him that a canvasser was caught on camera making such offers. The allegation has not been established in court.
Trump called the canvasser a “Radical Left PAC operative” and wrote: “We have photographic evidence. This is a Criminal Offense!” His post linked a page describing a cease-and-desist demand to Bluestem Kansas.
KCTV reported Sunday that Kobach’s office had ordered the canvassing group to stop offering incentives tied to voting. The station said the office’s action followed a voter’s report of being offered a $5 gift card by a canvasser who identified himself as working with the group.
This is an allegation under investigation, not an announced criminal conviction. The material cited in Trump’s post and KCTV’s report did not announce charges or establish a wider operation.
What the linked release says
The release Trump linked, hosted on Forth, says the group was told to stop offering incentives for voting in the November 3 election. It also describes a demand to preserve documents and communications about canvassing and any offers to voters.
The listed records include messages, scripts, training material, payment records and communications with vendors and canvassers. A request to preserve records helps keep potential evidence available while an investigation continues.
KCTV reported that Kobach’s office said Kansas and federal law prohibit offering something of value in exchange for voting. The station also said the office was asking people with information about such offers to contact investigators.
The alleged $5 offer, the canvasser’s claimed connection to Bluestem Kansas and Trump’s broader description are separate claims. The available reports do not establish that the organization approved the alleged offer.
KCTV said it had sought comment from Bluestem Kansas and had not received a response at the time of its report.
