Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) protesters blocked the tracks of the Jerusalem Light Rail during a protest on Thursday, Israel Police said.

Jerusalem District police officers and Border Police personnel began to disperse the demonstrators after they began rioting, blocking traffic, and throwing stones, according to N12.

The protest is one of many demonstrations by ultra-Orthodox individuals in recent months protesting projects to expand light rail routes in Jerusalem.

In late September, five suspects were arrested after blocking the light rail near Haim Bar-Lev and Zaks streets in Jerusalem.

Rioters throw rocks, other objects at police working to clear trains through protest

Rioters threw rocks and objects at police officers operating at the scene as trains were being moved along the tracks.

Police forces, which included Jerusalem District officers, Border Police fighters, and Yasam special patrol officers, dispersed the riot using a water cannon and stun grenades.
