Democratic Gov. Josh Green is projected to win a second term in Hawaii, defeating Republican businessman Gary Cordery, according to the Fox News Decision Desk.
The projection would keep the governor’s office in Democratic hands. Green campaigned on middle-class tax relief, housing construction and efforts to reduce homelessness.
Cordery, a general contractor, challenged the incumbent with proposals that included removing the state’s general excise tax on food and medicine and increasing affordable housing.
As of JBizNews’s check shortly after midnight Eastern time Wednesday, NBC News’s Hawaii results page did not show a projected winner. The result reported here is Fox’s projection, not election certification.
