Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont has won a third term as Connecticut governor, defeating Republican state Sen. Ryan Fazio, Fox News projects.

The projected outcome would keep the governor’s office in Democratic hands. Lamont first won the office in 2018 and was reelected in 2022, Fox reported.

Lamont reached the general election after defeating Democratic state Rep. Josh Elliott in his party’s primary. Fazio, a state senator from Greenwich, challenged the governor’s record on affordability, taxes and public spending, according to Fox.

Fox posted the race projection Tuesday night. This report includes no vote totals or margin, and the media call is not an election certification.
